As in most other nations of the world, Labour Day is an official holiday in the South Pacific archipelago nation of Vanuatu.

The influence of British and French administrators of the islands, before independence, created an opportunity for what was originally a “Western holiday” to make its way to Vanuatu.
Workers in Vanuatu get a day off to spend with their families or to use for recreational purposes. Many take to the beaches, spend time visiting cultural sites or shopping in Port Vila.
Some may also attend workers rallies or processions or even join in a protest to demand better compensation and working conditions. But Vanuatu is not very high profile for these kinds of Labour Day protests, compared to other nations.
