Christmas Day is a public holiday every 25 December in Vanuatu. Christmas leaves its snowy northern hemisphere connotations behind here in this tropical paradise. And yet, it’s amazing to see that Santa Claus in his winter coat and falling snowflakes have come over to Vanuatu in the form of Christmas decorations!

In Vanuatu, many will attend religious services on Christmas Eve. They may also do the same on Christmas Day. And they will also travel back home to small villages where they can spend Christmas with family.
For Christmas dinner, you’re more likely to find fish and other seafood, cold meats, and fresh salads than turkey, ham, or lamb. And many people even head out to the beaches on and around Christmas to swim and enjoy leisure time outdoors.
