The main events of Commonwealth Day take place in London, England, where the Queen attends a special multi-faith event in Westminster Abbey and gives an address. Her speech is broadcast all over the world.
It is on this day that the Commonwealth Games are initiated in the year’s host country, but other games and events take place in Funafuti, Tuvalu’s capital city. These events are often youth-focused and funded in part by the local Commonwealth Youth Program.
