Attending special church services on Palm Sunday and Good Friday and a midnight mass on Holy Saturday all lead up to the Easter Morning service for many.
Roman Catholics in Honiara put on a passion of the Christ re-enactment on Good Friday, with a crucifix procession from Central Market to Holy Cross Cathedral. Many kiss and venerate the wood of the crucifix.
Honiara also hosts an Easter “fun run” and other events. And everyone heads off to a festive Easter meal with friends and family after church.
