Due to its close relationship with the United States, Northern Mariana Islands (NMI) celebrates Labor Day on the first Monday of September instead of on 1 May like most other countries of the world.

In the US, Labor Day is one of the last chances to get out and do something fun together as a family before Summer ends. In NMI, however, the weather stays warmer and pleasant for longer. Labor Day is a time to enjoy the outdoors, but it’s not nearly the “last chance”.
Many choose to head to the beautiful white-sand beaches on Labor Day Weekend in NMI. And many tourists arrive by air or cruiseliner to spend their holiday in what they consider a “tropical paradise”.
