Christmas in Northern Mariana Islands (NMI) is celebrated with a public holiday every 25 December, as it is in a majority of countries around the world. This Christian festivity commemorates the birth of Jesus, and is part of a 22-28 day season in the Christian calendar known as Advent.

On 1 December, festivities officially get underway when a large, well-lit Christmas tree is set up along the Paseo de Marianas in Garapan on Saipan’s west coast. Garapan is the hotel and tourist centre of the island and also has some of the best beach strands.
On every Saturday between 1 December and 25 December, there are kid-focused Christmas events throughout Saipan and elsewhere. You will see floats, costumes, game tents, street food, music, dancing, plays, and more.
