Christmas in Micronesia is celebrated with a public holiday every 25 December, as it is in a majority of countries around the world. This Christian festivity commemorates the birth of Jesus, and is part of a 22-28 day season in the Christian calendar known as Advent.

On Christmas Eve, Roman Catholics generally attend midnight mass. Protestants normally go to church on Christmas Day and spend most of the day there in very long worship services. Small gifts are often given out during these services. A big Christmas feast typically follows the church service.
On the island of Kosrae, there is a tradition of “Christmas marching” where people sing and take part in march competitions at church. There is also an event where “Santa” tosses candy to kids and adults who line the streets.
