New Year’s Day is a time of resolutions and starting fresh for some, while for others it is spent recovering from a big, late night spent with friends and family.
Locals and tourists alike in Cocos Islands will hold midnight watching parties on New Year’s Eve. People may toast, shout, or shout out “Happy New Year!” as the new year arrives. They may also exchange small gifts, call and greet friends and relatives or send out holiday cards.
Many arrive from Perth, other parts of Australia, and beyond for the holiday season. They like to go surfing, diving, sailing, golfing, and more. Visiting Pulu Keeling National Park is especially popular, and there’s no better way to welcome the new year than by viewing the natural beauty of Cocos Islands!
