New Year’s Day is a time of resolutions and starting fresh for some, while for others it is spent recovering from a big, late night spent with friends and family.
American Samoa, along with Kiribati, is the first place on the globe to welcome each new year as it arrives. This is based upon its time zone located near the International Date Line.
There are fireworks displays, beach parties, and private celebrations all across American Samoa as the old year dims and dies and the new year comes to life.
